Digital artist Beeple, known for his landmark NFT sale, has unveiled a provocative new physical installation titled ‘HUMAN ONE’ at Art Basel in Miami. The work features a pack of robotic dogs, their heads replaced by instantly recognizable visages of tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, alongside pop art icon Andy Warhol. The sculptures perform a satirical, programmed routine where they defecate physical tokens representing non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The installation is presented as a critical commentary on the pervasive nature of algorithmic influence and data collection in modern society. By merging the concept of machine perception with the blockchain-based permanence of digital ‘memories,’ Beeple interrogates themes of control, legacy, and the absurdities within the convergence of high technology, art, and commerce. The work challenges viewers to consider the mechanisms behind cultural value and the role of powerful figures in shaping our digital and physical realities.
